Today I am joining in the sketch challenge over at My Favorite Things.

I picked up a bunch of the Pure Innocence line from

Two Peas in a Bucket when they had a sale recently.

I love to shop there as they are based in Wisconsin where I live.

Gotta give a little to my home state ya know!

Anywho... here is the sketch:

Lotsa layers on this one!

I picked up some of the new My Minds Eye lines at

Two Peas also. Super excited to open a fresh pad of brightly

colored paper and get creating with this card.

Isn't she a cutie? She is off to the beach to enjoy the sunshine.

I ended up having to sew the striped panel twice as I ran out of bobbin thread half way around and was left with empty holes.

Boy, do I hate when that happens!

One for baseball and one for basketball.

2z Day with Great Impressions Stamps

Good Morning!

It's my DT day over at the Great Impressions blog

and I am sharing a new technique.

At least it is new to me (grin!)

If you haven't picked up the latest edition of Paper Crafts titled

"Cool Tools" you really should run out and get it.

My head is swimming with fun ideas using tools

many of us already have in our craft room.

My flourish frame and initial is of course by Great Impressions Stamps. Have to say these are some sturdy and deeply etched stamps. I put them through quite a bit and they came out looking good as new

with just a simple soap and water wash.

Here are the steps:

1. Cover card-stock large enough to fit your image with watermark ink and embossing powder. Heat powder.

Really ink up your card-stock and pour on the powder.

2. Repeat entire process for a total of seven times.

Your card-stock will get thick and goopy.

3. While warm and pliable stamp your image.

Do not remove stamp until cool. (about 5 min.)

Don't worry about any imperfections.

They only add to the beauty of the finished product.

Once cooled, I stamped my initial in the center and let it set.

I then traced over with a permanent black marker.

Mojo Monday 227

Is it Monday already?

The weekend went by way to fast!

Here is my take for Mojo Monday this fine day.

It's contest week so get on over there and check it out.

I used a stamp from Great Impressions called Memories for my main panel. Melissa Frances provided all the DP from her Kitschy Kitchen line. So retro and fun! I sponged around all my DP with linen before popping up my sentiment and adding the flowers. Got those at Michael's and couldn't wait to use them. Can you believe my ribbon was wrapped around some dishtowels I got at Target? (grin!)

I love the font on this sentiment and the extra touch of flourishes.

My Crafty Room

Hi All - Hope your weekend is being good to you so far!

I always love to get sneak peaks of stampers crafty spaces.

Such an easy and wonderful way to get new ideas to

make your craft room work the best for you.

I keep everything pretty much within my reach....lazy that way (grin!).

So if I use something often, it is close by.

As you can see I have a corner desk which I have filled from end to end. In the center is where I create.

I like to keep some of my (precious to me) items where I can see them. Sometimes for inspiration, other times just to make me smile.

I need a blank slate to start a project.

Therefore I always clean up before I begin something new.

I'm funny that way.

Those jars you are seeing on my bookshelf,
keep all my ribbon by color.
I wrap them around a clothespin and put a pin in to hold in place.
I keep my heavy neutral card stock
for bases here and envelopes too.

This is where I store most of my embellishments, punches, sheets of chipboard and 12x12 DP. I use the smaller paper pads for most of my work, so those are stored on top of my desk in organized bins.
When I have scraps I keep them with the pad by fastening
a big clip to hold everything tight.

My Cuttlebug station is here too with all my dies below it.

All of this shelving is from Michael's -
a great deal when you gotta coupon.

Across from my desk is a window with my little sewing machine.

Doesn't it look lonely?

Next to that is a small walk- in closet with all of my stamps and miscellaneous house hold stuff/junk. I organize those by manufacturer. Compared to many stampers out there, my stamp supply is small.

However, the folks at Great Impressions have been very generous

with providing me an amazing array of stamps

to work with...a little like stamp heaven. (grin)

This week the Design Team over at Great Impressions Stamps, will be sharing creations using Embossing techniques. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! Shanna will start us off tomorrow with something jaw dropping I'm sure...

CAS-ual Fridays 38 - On the Red Carpet

Whew!

This week's challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays really taxed the

old brain cells! (lol!) The theme is "On the Red Carpet".

Basically, a clean and simple movie inspiration.

Hope you can tell what movie I choose.

That's right....Mary Poppins. Loved that movie when I was a kid.

I wanted to create a movie strip on my card and then fill it with

those delightful umbrellas Mary Poppins is known for.

I used the Binding Edge Punch to make my strips. The "confetti" or left-overs from punching on white card stock divided my strips. I just glued them onto a strip of black card stock. My sentiment is

made up of alphabet beads I picked up at Michael's.

The spoon from Lawn Fawn, is stamped, fussy cut and glued on.

A bit of paper piercing on the corners and I

deemed it ready for the red carpet. (grin)

How about a Freshly Made Birthday card this fine Friday?

Super easy to create using a flower punch,

petal roller, and a Die-namics from MFT.

I cut out the rectangle from my DP and stamped

my sentiment directly onto my white base.

Double the Blessing!

Twins!

I had to dig deep... creatively speaking... on this one.

A request for a twin card threw me for a bit of a loop.

I pulled out a Papertrey stamp set and masked off

the bottom portion of "Welcome, Little One".

Instead I replaced it with chipboard and added an "s". I still needed an image that fit though...that's when I dug into my stash of DP.

I found this mama duck and her ducklings from October Afternoon and cut it out with a square Nestie. Then I cut out another square in the solid green and paper pieced it together. The ducklings are popped up on dimensionals with a few sparkly green gems on the side.

Say it with Chocolate!

My DH left me a lovely centerpiece full of flowers AND a huge chocolate bar from a business dinner he attended last night. The flowers are now on my table and the chocolate bar keeps calling me from the counter. So far I have been able to ignore it...

but it did remind me to bring out this adorable a 'la mode

from My Favorite Things, and get her inky.

The lighter color on the chocolate bar is caramel of course, as that is my fave! I paper pieced the wrapper with Basicgrey DP and silver metallic paper for the foil. What do you think of my new border? It's a die-namic also from MFT called Jumbo Monarch Border.

I doubled it to add a bit of pizazz!

This beachy chick doesn't give a cluck about what anyone else does.

She is heading to the beach where the sun is at her back

and the sand between her toes.

So wish that were me! (lol!)

This stylin' chick from Great Impressions Stamps, is colored, paper pieced and fussy cut. Her arms were laden with beach gear...so I slid a life preserver on her tail feathers. Cosmo Cricket's Snorkel line gave

this beach scene lotsa dimension with fun chip-board pieces.

For even more texture, the beach is actually sand paper

I snuck from my DH's workshop (grin).

In an effort to continue expanding my crafting horizons (lol!)

I bit the bullet and created a circle card!

I think I'm more excited about the shape

of my card than the actual card!

Thanks Mojo Monday gals for giving me that extra push!

I'm always short on birthday cards so this pretty flourish sentiment from Great Impressions Stamps

is versatile enough to fit any birthday needs.

My retro flower is created from a die using felt. Wasn't sure if my Cuttlebug was up to the task...but I ran it through a few times and added an extra sheet of paper between the plates and it cut fine. Some pretty pearls to the center of my flower

and I completed my circle card.

Our Creative Corner - Hip to be Square

I wasn't going to craft today....honestly I wasn't...

But then my sister-in-law asked me for a baby card

and I found this fabulous sketch

over at Our Creative Corner...so cleaning is on hold. (grin!)

Here is a look at the sketch:

This really got my Mojo going I have to say!

I used a scissors on the edges of my polka dot panel. Then popped

that up on dimensionals. Each of my four circles are punched on the edge with a smaller punch to "frame" my sentiment. A scalloped flower I created with a die and petal roller is the letter "O". Then I colored a white pearl with a pink Copic for the center of my flower.

Two tiny pink gems also highlight my sentiment. All four circles are zipped around with a zig-zag stitch for even more texture.

This Ones For You Katie!

I saw this new stamp set from MFT and absolutely HAD to have it!

My beautiful young niece Katie plays the violin like an angel!

I could listen to her play all day. Unbiased auntie that I am

thinks she is a child prodigy (grin!)

Got a work-out in paper piecing with this one!

Both her violin and pretty dress are pieced and then she is

fussy cut, popped up and all ready to make beautiful music.

I added a double trim of lace that I purchased

awhile back from Frost it Pink.

The colors in real life really pop on this card.

Too bad my camera didn't see it.

2z Day With Great Impressions Stamps

Whatcha doin' this fine Tuesday morning?

I've been busy inking up this cutie-pa-tootie from

Great Impressions Stamps!

Isn't she the sweetest?

I paired her up with my Sidewalks stash from October Afternoon.

She is fussy cut and plopped into a field of grass. I zipped around my circle Nestie and my grass die with my Janome Sew Mini.

Perfect machine for sewing on cards and small crafts.

For accents I added a flag to hold up my sentiment
and a butterfly grazing in the flowers.

Tied things up with some twine and a button.

Doesn't she make you wish for Spring?

Sigh....it will be a long time coming here I'm afraid.

For now, guess I will have to be content with

putting a little Spring in my crafts. (lol!)

Penguin Suit

Guess what day it is at CAS-ual Fridays?

Nope, not Penguin Day, although I am told there is such a thing.

It's a black and white challenge.

I do have a penguin stamp, but I knew I wouldn't be able

to resist giving him some color (grin)... so I opted for this

lovely tree stamp from Inkadinkado.

The contrast between the black frame and stamped trees

is stunning in it's simplicity to me.

Several white pearls to mark the corners and I deemed it done.

Paper Piecing with Our Creative Corner

I am snuggled in my craft room for the day!

And yes, we are expecting a snow storm today. The typical Wisconsin winter has finally hit us with a vengeance!

Our Creative Corner has supplied me with the perfect challenge for my adorable snowman stamp from Taylored Expressions...paper piecing. I love to dress up my images with DP. This is the first time I tried paper piecing letters and I gotta ask...why haven't I done this before? (grin!)

I kept it quite simple as we were only allowed one embellishment

and not a lick of ribbon was to be used.

2z Day with Great Impression Stamps

Good Morning!

One of my goals this year is to step out of my usual "box" and experiment more creatively. I swoon over the shabby chic look that many of you are so accomplished at. Here is my attempt

to really broaden my creative side. Speaking of creativity...love for you to see what my teammates are up to over at the

Great Impressions Blog. They really are a sweet bunch!

Isn't this a wonderful image?

It's called Romantic Collage from Great Impressions.

I stamped it twice on ivory paper, once in Rich Cocoa and once in Distressed Victorian Velvet. I fussy cut out the entire image in the Rich Cocoa and cut just the framed portion in the Velvet. My frame is lightly sponged with Glimmer Mist. All the papers including my doily were sponged around in Antique Linen. The outside edges of my card are painted white, sanded and then sponged. Love that look! Then I just played! Really, you've just got to move things around...

and around until it works for you...

I think I out did myself with dimension (lol!)

Sometimes when I create a card I think to myself...hmmm....I like this one. Today however, I think I'm in love, and that's a rarity for me. I think we are our own worst critics, at least I am. (grin!)

Makes for a unique friendship card I'd say.

Using up some older 12x12 DP...I'm finding more and more

that I like the smaller pads of paper best.

So much more conducive to card making I think.

MFTWSC53 Jump In!

Playing along today with My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge.

This is one of the brand new Pure Innocence gals. I purchased it when they were running a 20% off sale with the Scallop Die-namic. It came with a slew of fun sentiments. Really got my moneys worth (smile).

Had a blast inking her up and fussy cutting her out. She is popped up with her own twine jump rope that I glued behind her hands and on top so it wouldn't tip. Love making scalloped flowers with my Petal Roller. It really is super easy - just roll, release,

and a dot of glue on the bottom.

Times Gone By

I'm in love with this DSP!

Those little roses and vintage images from Cosmo Cricket's

Odds & Ends line remind me of times gone by. I think my aunt had wallpaper in her bedroom similar to this when I was growing up. (smile) I took the sentiment from MFT and curved it on my acrylic block, stamped the sewing machine and fussy cut it out. All the edges are sponged with Antique Linen. Some twine to thread the machine

and zig zag stitches around the base of my card.

The vintage buttons are from my stash.

Today may actually hit 50 degrees! I know it's just a teaser but I think I'm gonna take advantage of it and run outside today. Basketball game tonite for my son and hopefully some crafty time woven in.

Why is it I never have a Birthday card when I need one? I think I have every possible holiday in my stash but a Birthday card -

at least a card that is mail-able.

Whipped this one up really quick with just one stamp and some scrap DP. My scrap bin is over flowing - so I'm thinking I should hit there first for awhile. Sorry don't remember the name of the DP

Great Impressions Stamps

Tuesdays are my DT day over at the
Great Impressions Blog and here on mine.

I'm delighted to be a part of Great Impressions Stamps as they journey forward by opening an on-line store. I will give you the heads up when that happens....should be any time now.

Thought I would start off by getting your Valentines Day
mojo going (grin!) When I saw the Heart Blossoming Tree stamp, I knew I wanted to do something fun and a touch whimsical with it. So I first printed the sentiment from my computer and then stamped my image. Next I colored in the leaves and tiny flowers with my trusty Copics. I punched out some tiny hearts and paper pieced them on my tree...leaving some to fall. My tree is planted on a half circle cut with a Nestie, then covered with a shiny satin ribbon tied on with an embellie. For the finishing touches I added tiny pearls to

the flowers and edged the bottom.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!

This year I have made myself a few crafty goals. After all, goals are so much more attainable if you make them fun! So here goes....I really need to take the time to learn more about Photoshop...I'd like my pictures to pop more without any shadows! Take advantage of more of the free how to videos to learn new techniques. Number 3 - do not be afraid to try these new techniques! (LOL!) Okay enough said!

I did try something new today...the Petal Roller by Imaginisce. Super simple to use paired with the MFT Rolled Scallop Die-namics. I think my flower is a bit to tight, but I do like the little

scalloped edges and the touches of glitter I added to it.

TGIF!!

Although all the days seem to be running together over Christmas break - I am happy it's Friday. Two parties this weekend...which means two more days of eating way too much!! I've been working out twice a day just to maintain....how sad is that? Anyway, I've been doing a sort of Spring cleaning in my crafty room. Feels so good!! My stamps and papers are all sorted and into their new homes in my closet. Working on my embellishment stash now and that's where I found these adorable October Afternoon Farm Fresh stickers. I needed to make a quick card and the stickers paired up with a sentiment from Paper Smooches makes me smile...

My New Favorite A' la mode

Hello Stampers!

I feel like I have been gone forever...finally stole a few hours in my crafty room today and this is what I came up with. Pardon all the shadows, it has been gloomy here for days, not good for picture taking.

The Christmas hoopla is over, and I for one am happy to get things back to normal. I did have a wonderful time with family enjoying all of our traditions and making a few new ones....but it's good to get somewhat back into a routine.

The sentiment on this card just cracks me up!!

Couldn't wait to get this a' la mode from MFT inky.

I choose my striped paper first and then just kinda worked everything else in. What do you think of that hat? Don't know if I'd wear it (grin) but it sure looks warm. Of course that and the ball of yarn are paper pieced...the rest colored in with my Copics. Sponged around with some tea stained distress ink and popped up my sentiment.

Tomorrow I hope to get my crafty room more organized. Took advantage of the Christmas sales on the web....and grabbed some new stamps and paper, now I need to expand on my storage.

Away in a Manger

I am reminded of the Christmas carol

"Away in a Manger" each year when our Nativity scene goes up. When the littlest wee ones sing it so sweetly I often have a tear in my eye.

To me the birth of Jesus and family rises above everything else on this special day.

My card today reflects my feelings so well.

I kept it simple to honor the

humble beginnings of our Savior.

I will be quite busy for the next few days (grin!) ...cookie baking with the little ones, last minute gifts...but I am determined to relax and just savor each moment. I will be back after the Christmas Holiday... I also am super excited to begin creating for Great Impressions Stamps,

Wrapping it Up

Wrapping Christmas up with a Starbucks gift card.

Of course this set from MFT let's me do it in style!

Some retired SU as my DP, a few rounded corners and a punch to make my gift card holder, and of course some sparkly bling. For a more festive look I popped on a snowflake.

A New Tradition

Good morning crafty friends!

I decided it was time for a new Christmas tradition at our house.

You know I adore making tags...so I thought I would take the tags I don't use and help decorate the tree. This way they are not

kept in a stuffy box but out and looking festive.

After all the gifts are opened my children can then pick out the tags from the tree that they like and use them in the future.

For my tag I used the "Jingle all the Way" stamp from my new go to stamp store Great Impressions. Cut it out onto white cardstock with a Lacey nestie. Next I choose an Ivory for my base...just love the tone on tone look. Ran a tag dye through my Cuttlebug with it and then popped it in a snowflake folder and ran that too. I added some touches of DP using two hole punches and another Nestie...sponged around the tag in Rhubarb and inside the lacey circle with Antique Linen.

Sprinkled on some frosty chunky glitter for sparkle. I popped up the circle for even more dimension.

For a really festive look I tied a ribbon through a gold jingle bell and wrapped it all up with a shimmery strand of silver wire.

Christmas Surprises

Sharing some goodies I created for the wee ones. They love to draw, color, write and anything else their little minds think of with paper. I catch them often in my craft room sneaking some DP...so I included some in my little activity books. I also added some writing, construction, coloring and drawing paper. Hope I covered it all! Oh, and a couple of swirly paper clips to mark their pages.

I used everything Sidewalks from October Afternoon.

Mojo Monday 218 - Chin Up!

Good Morning!

We all know how stressful the holidays can be...rushing here...rushing there....shopping....cooking...baking...parties...the list goes on...

This little diddy is going to be sitting on my desk so that when I feel the least bit stressed I can peek at him and just smile :) and know that no matter what I always get through it. And you will too!

My card layout is inspired by the Mojo gals...

and they've gotta contest going this week!

So...ya know you wanna play....

I flipped the sketch to fit my digi from Priscilla's Store and then cut him out with an Oval Nestie. I knew the little bird would not fit in my oval so I pieced him back on...so his wings hang down. My image is colored with my trusty Copics and glittered all up. I sponged around all my papers, popped up my sentiment and added

a line of sparkly red gems on the side.

CAS-ual Fridays

Tic-Tac-Toe anyone?

There are some mighty creative thinkers over at CAS-ual Fridays!

This weeks challenge is to choose three squares following that age old game rules...horizontal, vertical or diagonal. My new Lawn Fawn set inspired me to go with the stripes, green and scallops. I used two different shades of green on my tree branches, stripes on the ornaments and scallops are in the patterned paper

on the bottom of my card.

I'm liking the "earthy" feel I ended up with on my card.

CAS-ual Fridays is all about clean cards so I held myself back from adding some touches of bling - and that was tough - believe me! (grin)

A Good Cookie

My Black Friday deals have started to arrive!

So excited to be inking up some new to me stamps!

This one from Taylored Expressions is appropriately called "Moka Betty". My mom's name is Betty and she is the best baker around. Her house smells like heaven when she is baking! Sometimes I even get to bring her luscious treats home (grin!).

For this one I stamped and fussy cut my image - then colored and paper pieced her up. I spread on some Star Dust Stickles

for frosting (yum!) and popped her up over some retro Modern Homemaker DSP from October Afternoon.
